Whataboutery 1: Masters of Change
Powered by Han Nefkens Foundation en Prins Claus Fonds
During State of Fashion, a presentation, debate or talk is organised every Friday in our event space: The Whataboutery. How can we come up with solutions for the sustainability issue that is so urgent in the fashion industry? Like the exhibition, the discussions in the Whataboutery are part of the search for the new luxury. You as a visitor are cordially invited to think along critically, ask questions, and have a conversation with our special guests.
On 1 June, designer VIN of the illustrious fashion duo VIN + OMI from London is invited to the Whataboutery, alongside designers Rafael Kouto, Matti Liimatainen, Anneke Hymmen & Kumi Hiroi, Button Massala, 11.11, Kristina Walsh and Elise van Joolen, who participate in the Masters of Change programme. Kestrel Jenkins of the podcast Conscious Chatter will moderate a debate around the manifesto theme '#agency'. How are these designers 'drivers of change' and how do they innovate the fashion industry?
The Masters of Change
Through an international Open Call, designers, brands, NGOs and artists were invited to submit ideas and products for State of Fashion 2018 | searching for the new luxury, between 1 July and 31 October 2017. The best ideas have been included in the exhibition and the selected entrants invited to a master class during the opening weekend of State of Fashion 2018, titled 'Masters of Change'. Part of this master class is a public debate concerning the manifesto theme '#agency'.
Combining a visit to the exhibition with participation in the Whataboutery? Then you can have a healthy and responsible dinner at Dudok in De Melkfabriek on Friday evening.
