Burkina Faso’s national fabric is called Faso Danfani. The textile is a source of great pride for Burkinabé people and holds protected status since 2019. Mdingi works with CABES Textile Community, a social enterprise in Burkina Faso, and Philani, an NGO in South Africa, to create textiles that reflect the artisanal craft.

Their bespoke fabrics are handwoven in organic cotton and metal yarn, with minimal waste, using dyes with low environmental impact.

At the heart of Mdingi’s work is a commitment to social impact: training and support for the weavers he collaborates with, alongside proper compensation – regulated by the Ethical Fashion Initiative. The project has created over 200,000 metres of fabric since 2020.
