Only €7,50 to go to the expo during the closing weekend

COMPLETE PROGRAM ANNOUNCED FOR CLOSING WEEKEND

On Saturday 21 July and Sunday 22 July, the State of Fashion Closing Weekend will take place. Our quest for the new luxury is coming to a conclusion. With this packed program we are closing off seven weeks of expos and events in Arnhem with a bang.

Friday: the last Whataboutery

The closing weekend kicks off with the last Whataboutery on Friday night – a gathering where everyone can join the discussion about possible solutions to make fashion cleaner, more sustainable and more fairtrade. The key issue in thi eighth and last edition is “IMAGINATION”. Curator of State of Fashion 2018, José Teunissen, talks with the researchers behind the project “Transfashional”. How can visual arts design, architecture and performing arts inspire new definitions of luxury? Guests are jewelry designer Naomi Filmer, art historian and curator Dobrila Denegri and Lara Torres, participant of State of Fashion 2018, and also head teacher MA Fashion and Textiles at the School of Art and Design, University of Portsmouth (UK).

Saturday and Sunday, clothing swap, workshops and debates all across De Melkfabriek
On Saturday, De Melkfabriek is open extra long! Until 20:00 hours, there is something on the program for everyone. For instance, start your visit by participating in a clothing swap, and let stylist Chiara Spruit from Indiaan provide you with sustainable styling advice for your wardrobe. Or attend a workshop with Button Masala, one of the exhibiters, who teaches you how to reshape your clothing, using buttons and elastic band (no experience needed!). Pimp your own clothing or use one of the clothed from the clothing swap.

Continue your visit (between 14:00 and 17:00 hours) by joining one of the debate sessions in the center of the exhibition. Speak with designer Elisa van Joolen, who can tell you everything about the research she has done with visitors during State of Fashion: how do we buy clothing, how do we take care of it, and how do we expose of it? The expo is open until 20:00 hours – and from 18:00 on, curator José Teunissen and Pauline van Dongen will give free tours for everybody in English and Dutch.

Attention: these tickets are only valid during the closing weekendd
